Morzine
Working market town with old-Savoyard centre and a busy après scene.
Morzine is the largest and lowest-altitude base in Portes du Soleil, a year-round Savoyard market town at 1,000 m rather than a purpose-built ski village. The pedestrianised centre is busy and walkable, with the broadest restaurant and bar scene in the area. Lift access to the main Portes du Soleil network goes via the Pleney or Super-Morzine gondolas; Avoriaz is a 25-minute lift ride. The trade-off for the village's character is more weather-dependent low-altitude snow.
