Châtel
Working farming village with a foot in France and Switzerland.
Châtel is a French farming village at 1,200 m near the Swiss border, on the Linga and Pré-la-Joux lift systems that link into the Swiss side of Portes du Soleil. The village stayed rural rather than purpose-built (working farms operate inside the village limits), and the lodging skews to small chalets and family-run guesthouses. Beginner and intermediate terrain dominates the immediate sectors; access to advanced runs requires crossing into Avoriaz or the Swiss Wall.
