Verbier

High-end Valais hub: Mont-Fort steep terrain and a noisy après scene.

Verbier is the centre of gravity in the 4 Vallées, a Valais resort at 1,500 m with the busiest lift system, broadest restaurant scene, and most expensive lodging in the area. The Mont-Fort cable car rises to 3,330 m for the area's signature steep off-piste; the Médran lifts climb directly from the village into the wider 4 Vallées network. Architecture is mixed Swiss-chalet and 1960s-functional rather than chocolate-box. Nightlife is loud, the freeride scene is serious, and lift queues are the area's longest.
